About YOLKÈE

It started simple, many iterations, now we have this amazing egg yolk shampoo paste.

The shampoo your great-grandmother would have made.

Conventional shampoo is mostly water. Open any bottle on a store shelf, the first ingredient is "Aqua." Most of what you're buying is water with surfactants, fragrances, and preservatives that exist to make the water-based formula sit on a shelf for two years.

YOLKÈE is what's left when you take the water out.

A jar of YOLKÈE contains five ingredients: mango butter, shea butter, sodium cocoyl isethionate (a coconut-derived cleanser), egg yolk, and raw honey. That's the entire formula. No water, no preservatives, no synthetic fragrances, no fillers.

Why five ingredients?

Every ingredient earns its place.

Mango butter provides the structural body of the formula, the substance that makes it scoopable and stable across temperatures.

Shea butter brings the cream-like softness, melting on contact with your palms to create the smooth lather application.

Sodium cocoyl isethionate is the cleanser, coconut-derived, used in baby shampoos, significantly gentler than the harsh sulfates in conventional formulas. This is what actually washes your hair.

Egg yolk is the hero conditioning ingredient. The protein, lecithin, and fatty acids that ancestral cultures have used on hair for thousands of years. Sourced as a fine pasteurized powder.

Raw honey provides natural humectancy and mild antimicrobial protection, eliminating the need for preservatives.

That's everything. The label tells the whole story.

Why it's small.

A 4 oz jar of YOLKÈE doesn't compare to a 32 oz bottle of conventional shampoo because YOLKÈE isn't 90% water.

You're not paying for water in a plastic bottle. You're paying for actual ingredients, concentrated and whipped into a paste. A small scoop expands into rich foam when activated by water in the shower. A 4 oz jar typically lasts 6-10 weeks with regular use.

Most of our customers also find they wash less often after switching, since their scalp isn't being stripped by harsh ingredients and producing excess oil to compensate.

How to use it.

Wet your hair thoroughly. Scoop a quarter-sized amount with dry fingers. Rub between wet palms until a creamy lather forms, about 10-15 seconds. Massage into your scalp, work through your hair, and rinse thoroughly. Use 2-3 times per week.

During the first 2-3 weeks while your scalp adjusts to sulfate-free washing, an apple cider vinegar rinse (1 tablespoon ACV in 1 cup water) can help. After the adjustment period, most people don't need it.

What makes us different.

We started YOLKÈE because the ancestral hair care movement on TikTok had identified something real: traditional ingredients like egg yolk and honey have been used on hair for thousands of years. But the people putting raw eggs in their hair weren't actually washing it, they were conditioning. The product they wanted didn't exist.

So we made it.

YOLKÈE is the first shampoo that combines what ancestral hair care knew about conditioning ingredients with a real cleansing agent. You get the egg yolk and honey treatment plus actual hair cleaning. One product, both jobs.

We're not trying to be a billion-dollar brand. We're making a real product the way it should be made, in small batches, in Austin, Texas. Each jar is hand-filled and labeled. We make to order during launch periods, which means you're getting fresh product within weeks of when it was made - not something that's been sitting in a warehouse for two years.

Made by hand in Austin, TX.

Every jar is hand-filled and labeled by the founder. We work in small batches because that's what real products demand. If you order during a launch, expect to wait 2-4 weeks for production, and to receive something fresher than anything you can buy in a store.

This isn't a venture-backed brand pretending to be artisan. This is one person making one product carefully.

Questions we get.

Won't it smell? No. The egg yolk is dehydrated and processed, removing the sulfur compounds that cause fresh egg smell. Most people are surprised by how subtle it smells.

Does it actually clean? Yes. The SCI at 25% of the formula is a real cleanser. The egg yolk and honey condition. Both happen in one product.

Will it work on my hair? Yes, straight, curly, fine, coarse, color-treated, long, short. The formula is gentle enough for sensitive scalps and effective enough for thick textured hair.

Is there a transition period? For most people, yes. The first 2-3 weeks while your scalp adjusts to sulfate-free washing can feel different. ACV rinses help. After adjustment, most people find their hair healthier than ever.
